Elle Woods is comin tae Scotland!
The West End smash-hit musical Legally Blonde is hitting the road for its first ever UK tour, visiting Glasgow’s Theatre Royal from 23 August – 3 September before moving on to the Edinburgh Playhouse from 6-17 September.
Based on the hit 2001 movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde the musical has been winning well-deserved awards this year including three Olivier awards for Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical for Sheridan Smith and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Jill Halfpenny who originated the roles of Elle and Paulette respectively in the West End.
If you haven’t seen the movie or West End show already, the brief synopsis is this…College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn’t take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone “serious”, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law School accompanied by her loveable Chihuahua, Bruiser.
The all-singing, all-dancing, feel good, pink and glitzy show is hilarious and touching; inspiring and romantic. Everything a good musical should be!
